Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme

If you can't afford to buy a home without help and are:

  • a serving member of the British Armed Forces
  • have 4-6 years service

How does it work?

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Communities and Local Government have launched an equity loan scheme, the Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme (AFHOS) Pilot. It is designed to assist serving members of the British Armed Forces (with four to six years service) to find a suitable home on the open market.

The scheme is managed and delivered by the Swaythling Housing Society.

All applicants for the scheme should apply directly to Swaythling who will be solely responsible for carrying out eligibility and affordability assessments for the scheme.
