HomeBuy is a government scheme to help make home ownership in Yorkshire more affordable.

My4walls offers various schemes for low-cost home ownership. The schemes are designed to help people in different situations find lasting and affordable ways to get onto the property ladder.

Your options are:

Shared Ownership

Part buy, part rent your home

If you can't afford to buy a home without help priority must go to the following groups in the first instance, set in priority order.

• Existing social tenants;
• Serving military personnel; and then on equal priority ranking
• Local priorities as set by Local Authorities.

After these priority groups have been exhausted other first time buyers who fit all other criteria can apply and purchase through the HomeBuy initiatives.

Equity Loan

Buy part of your home and use an equity loan for the rest

If you can't afford to buy a home without help priority must go to the following groups in the first instance, set in priority order.

Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme

If you can't afford to buy a home without help and:

  • are a serving member of the British Armed Forces
  • have 4-6 years service.

Rent to Buy

Pay reduced rent on a home so that you can save for a deposit

If you can't afford to buy a home without help and:

  • are a first time buyer
  • earn less than £60K per year.

Discount for Sale

Buy your home from a housing association at a discounted price

If you can't afford to buy a home without help and:

  • live or work in the immediate area
  • have an annual income of less than £60K.
