Birch Park Ticks All the Boxes
Tammy Roberts, husband Jamie and 18 month old son Clarke, have just purchased their new two bed luxury apartment at Birch Park through the My4walls discounted sale scheme.
"In literally four weeks, we were in our new flat, it’s beautiful! We never thought we would be this lucky - it ticks all the boxes." - Tammy
Tammy told us:
"When we started to look into moving, we found that we were stuck in the middle. A lot of the rental agencies wouldn't sign us up because you had to earn a certain amount, we couldn't afford to buy and we were earning a little bit too much to go through social housing. We were in that gap in the middle."
Tammy’s new family home had a market value of £119,000 but through discounted sale Tammy and her partner were able to purchase it for £63,620 with a 20% deposit.
"We were living in a privately rented flat in York. It was a small, one bedroom flat, which was quite cramped for three of us and there was damp in the house which was making us all quite ill,"
"My little boy’s health is so much better now, it's such a relief to be in a property we own and not to be worried about the fluctuation of private rents that I can actually sleep at night now."
Discounted for sale properties are new homes sold at a discount from the open market value. The homes are built by a private developer and then sold through a housing association onto people who fit the criteria for a discounted home.
The discount on a property can vary from scheme to scheme and is set by the Local Authority.
The new homeowner will own a 100% of the property as you would through a normal home purchase, however if they decide to sell the property it can only be sold with the original discount, so that the home remains affordable for the next buyer
To be eligible for a discounted home you need to meet certain criteria set by your local authority.
